Downgrade Call of Duty 1.5 to 1.1

How to downgrade CoD version 1.5 to version 1.1

What is this tutorial about?

This tutorial is made for people who got a newer version of Call of Duty installed but want to go back to CoD 1.1
You may need this if you got CoD1 from Steam or any other digital download plattform or if you bought one of the latest retail versions. I will explain how you can downgrade your version of CoD (1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5) to the vanilla version 1.1 and optionally how to keep both versions on your PC.

Downgrading to 1.1

First you need to locate your current Call of Duty installation folder.
If you want to keep your current version and have 1.1 in addition you need to make a copy of your current CoD folder and rename it to Call of Duty 1.x (replace x with your version).
Now we will downgrade the other Call of Duty folder.

Delete the following files from your main folder:
Depending on your version there won't be all these files and the localized files may have another name depening on the language of your CoD
  • pak8.pk3
  • pak9.pk3
  • paka.pk3
  • pakb.pk3
  • localized_english_pak2.pk3
  • localized_english_pak3.pk3
  • localized_english_pak5.pk3
As the last step you need to replace the gamefiles with the original 1.1 ones
Download the 1.1 gamefiles from here: CoD 1.1 Gamefiles
Replace the CoDMP.exe with the one from the download and move the .dll files into the main folder.

All the things that the tutorial says are correct, but something is missing and it needs to be added. Pak0.pk3 on cod1.1 is somehow different from the on exists in 1.5 version of it. I can create a patch (a file that will be about 4mb max and it will downgrade this from 1.5 to 1.1, but I dont have both versions on my PC so I can't do it, at least not on mine).

Hey so I've done all of this, but it'll say CoDMP.exe has stopped working and will crash...what am I doing wrong? Also I made the mistake by buying this game on Steam and no servers on 1.5 load - is 1.5 even still alive since almost everything on this website is all about 1.1?

1. You might have some packs or files in your folder that could make some troubles. Delete or put them in another place and try again.

2. The serverlist is currently not available. It might take a few days until it shows up again.

How do I know which packs or files to delete or move? I've retried this whole downgrading process again and I still can't get it, cod won't even open for me it just crashes and when I just re download it from Steam it's automatically updated to v1.5
